An original Civil War document. This is a discharge document which says that a James it looks like his last name is Penquite a Private of the 39th Ohio Infantry is discharged at Chattanooga,Tennessee by reason of expiration of term of service. It further says he was born in Clarksville, Ohio, 21 years of age 5 feet 8 inches with dark complexion, grey eyes, brown hair, and was a farmer when he enrolled. It is signed by a Captain at the end and dated August 26, 1864 at Cincinnati, Ohio.
The document has wear, there are large split marks and clear pices of tape on the fold areas, there is also some stain marks, and some small pieces missing or chipping in some areas.
