What is the Chinese Zodiac animal and why does it play such an important role in the Asian culture? The Chinese Zodiac consists of 12 animals: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar. Depending on the year you are born, you will be assigned one of these animals, or better known as the "Chinese Zodiac animal signs."
Each of the 12 Chinese zodiac animals or Chinese zodiac symbols supposedly represents the individual's innate traits and characteristics from birth.
